Ed McMahon

Ed McMahon Ed is the son of trainer Bryan McMahon who started his career at about 2 years of age, when he was placed upon his father's horses that were being trained at the time. Being brought up with them from such an early age meant that by the time he was 11 years of age he was riding work on a regular basis. After leaving school he worked as Bryan's assistant trainer and also rode as an amateur having just over one hundred rides and thirteen successes under both National hunt and Flat rules.

Ed has been an assistant to his father for over 20 years, so has gained a vast amount of experience prior to taking out his licence. In his first four years of training he has amassed over £800,000.00 in prize money with wins in Listed races and group placed horses. Ed was lucky enough to take over some owners from his father, who have now been with the family for many years. These owners have been very loyal and supportive and have been joined by new owners who are enjoying continued success with our family business.

Bryan had his training facilities at Woodside Farm, but in 1994 the opportunity came to purchase Horsley Brook Farm, this was embraced by both Bryan and Ed as the farms ground offered the potential for a great training base to be made. In the first instance the gallops were installed and fields turned into grass gallops, whilst over the next few years the Listed barns and cow shed were converted into stables, with further facilities still being added to this day.
